The "Conversations of the World" are part of a project coordinated by Boaventura de Sousa Santos at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra: "ALICE, Strange Mirrors, Unsuspected Lessons". This project aims to promote the visibility of social, political, economic and cultural innovations from the global South and ascertain to what extent can the global North learn with and from them.
The "Conversations of the World" place together men and women from different parts of the world and differently grounded experiences. Despite the differences, they share a common struggle for human dignity and the belief that another world is possible, necessary and urgent. The Conversations of the World aim to promote visibility of the infinite diversity of the world. This Conversation of the World with V. Y. Mudimbe and Boaventura de Sousa Santos was held on the 20th of June 2013 at Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra, Coimbra (Portugal).
